In the garden this month
The Herbaceous Borders, the new Clock Border and the Bog Garden are the main features during July and August.

The 'Howick Family Challenge' - a nature trail through the arboretum which poses a number of questions - will help to keep families busy during the school holidays.

Visitors can enjoy a famous cup of tea in the tea room - Earl Grey of course!

New Family Explorer Challenge in Howick Arboretum
Children from Howick Estate Line up to take on the new Family Explorer Challenge. The 'nature trail' leads through the woodland walks and poses a number of questions on nature and wildlife and takes up to 2 hours to complete. (Look out for red squirrels, swans, herons and ducks!)

Herbaceous Borders and Bog Garden
‘THE BOG GARDEN’
The Bog features some unusual planting. It was always a boggy area and twelve years ago it was dug out to form a small pond. The surrounding area has been planted with all the herbaceous plants grown from seed collected on expeditions abroad. There are a lot from China, but also from India, North America, New Zealand, Japan and Europe.
